Altru Health System Care System

Altru Health System is a community-owned, non-profit, integrated health system with headquarters on a 90-acre medical campus in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was created July 1, 1997, with the integration of Grand Forks Clinic and United Health Services.

Altru’s highly skilled health care providers and support staff, and the availability of state-of-the-art equipment, enable Altru to be the leading health care provider in the region. Altru provides care from eight locations in Grand Forks and 12 regional clinics. A team of more than 3,400 employees, 180 physicians and 40 mid-levels (physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners) and 400 volunteers serve more than 200,000 residents of northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Altru also provides training to 17 resident physicians through its Grand Forks Family Medicine Residency program.

Altru Health System provides an array of services to meet the needs of area residents of all ages and all levels of health. These services include a congregate retirement community (Parkwood Place), Altru Home Services and Altru Health Foundation. The Joint Commission on Healthcare Accreditation (JCAHO), the predominant standards-setting accrediting body in health care, awarded Altru a three-year accreditation in 2005.
