David Tilford
President and CEO |
|
David Tilford is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Medica. He also is a member of the board of directors of Medica Holding Company (MHC), which oversees Medica’s family of businesses including: Medica Health Plans, Medica Health Plans of Wisconsin, Medica Affiliated Services, Medica Insurance Company, Medica Self-Insured, and Medica Health Management, LLC. He joined the company in 2001.
Mr. Tilford has more than 25 years of industry experience, beginning in 1980 with Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company. He moved on to management and executive positions at Blue Cross of California and was part of the team that guided the formation of WellPoint Health Networks, now the nation’s largest health benefits company. He later led a business/information technology consulting practice serving the insurance and health care industries.
The recognition and awards received by Medica during Mr. Tilford’s leadership include: The national Driving Value in Health Care Award from The Leapfrog Group and National Business Coalition on Health (2006); Two (of three) National Business Coalition on Health eValue8 Innovation awards (2005); and HealthLeaders magazine Top U.S. Health Plan Leadership Team (2004). | |

Glenn E. Andis

Glenn Andis is responsible for directing the development, customer service and operations of all of Medica’s state and federal government-related (Medicaid and Medicare) products. Previous to this position, he was vice president of Regional Operations for Medica. Prior to joining Medica, Mr. Andis served as Operations Director for United Behavioral Systems in Minneapolis. | |

Mark Baird

Mark Baird is responsible for the financial management and decision support activities supporting all areas of the organization. He serves as key business partner to the business segment General Managers and other company Officers in developing operating plans, identifying opportunities and risks, establishing and achieving financial targets, and reporting/analyzing operating results. He is also responsible for identifying and analyzing health care cost drivers to ensure that medical expense trends are appropriately reflected in pricing. Prior to joining Medica, Mr. Baird was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of IHC Health Plans. In that role, he was also responsible for all managed care contracting activities for the Intermountain Health Care Hospital system. | |

Charles Fazio, M.D.

Dr. Charles Fazio has overall responsibility for the effectiveness of the clinical quality, disease management and population health programs at Medica. Dr. Fazio joined Medica with 20 years of experience in clinical and administrative medicine. His most recent experience was with the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement (ICSI) in Bloomington, Minnesota, where he oversaw medical group operations, advised medical groups on infrastructure design and improvements, oversaw the guideline development process, and facilitated action groups on open appointment access. Before that, Dr. Fazio was medical director at Central Minnesota Group Health Plan in St. Cloud, Minnesota. | |

Tom Henke
Senior Vice President, Commercial Markets |

Tom Henke has responsibility for Medica's four commercial market business segments. His duties include a leading role in new product development as well as account and customer service. Before joining Medica, Mr. Henke worked at Prudential and EBP Health Plans and has over 15 years of health care experience. He is the past chair for the Twin West Chamber of Commerce Leadership Development Program and serves on the Board of the Minnesota Council of Health Plans. Mr. Henke is also a Chartered Life Underwriter. | |

Jim Jacobson
Senior Vice President and General Counsel |

Jim Jacobson is responsible for Medica's legal affairs, compliance, government relations and public policy. Before joining Medica, Mr. Jacobson served as chief deputy county attorney (civil division) in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office. From 1987 to 2000, he served in the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. Among others, Mr. Jacobson held the positions of manager, health licensing, which included serving as general counsel to the Board of Medical Practice, and manager, commerce division, supervising legal services provided to the Department of Commerce. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Jacobson clerked for a federal district judge in Cleveland. | |

Jana L. Johnson

Jana Johnson is responsible for health plan operations, including enrollment and billing, employer and provider contract implementations and associated operations, commercial and provider call center service and issue resolution. Before joining Medica, Ms. Johnson worked at HealthPartners, Inc., in Minneapolis for almost 10 years, where she most recently served as the vice president of Contracted Operations & Managed Care Systems. She also served as a planning and business development consultant for professional practice development at StrategiCare, Inc., worked as the new business development coordinator at Minneapolis Children's Hospital, and served as marketing manager at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN. She continues to be active in the Women's Health Care Leadership Trust and the Minnesota Health Strategy Network. | |

Deb Knutson
Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Learning and Facilities |

Deb Knutson joined Medica in August 2003. She is responsible for human resources development, policies, education and facilities management, including building security, hospitality and maintenance. She came to Medica after 22 years at Minneapolis-based Pentair. From 1994 to 2003 she was Pentair’s vice president of Corporate Human Resources. Ms. Knutson is a member of the American Compensation Association, American Management Association, and served as president of the Human Resources Executive Council. | |

Rob Longendyke
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications |

Rob Longendyke is responsible for marketing, public relations, communications and strategic planning, and is the executive director of the Medica Foundation. He is a member of the senior and all-officer teams as well as the executive staff representative to the Community Affairs Committee of the Board of Directors. A senior communications executive with more than 20 years in the field, he has worked with four Fortune 500 companies in four different business sectors. Before joining Medica, he was vice president of Communications for Honeywell Home and Building Controls. Mr. Longendyke is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, an organization of senior public relations professionals from large companies. | |

Aaron Reynolds
Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President |

Aaron Reynolds is responsible for the overall profit and loss for Medica's business operations as well as overall responsibility for finance, contracting/network services, quality/care management, provider relations, and human resources, learning and facilities, and serves as staff chairperson for the Board of Directors Finance subcommittee. Mr. Reynolds joined Medica in August of 2000 as senior vice president and chief financial officer, and was named executive vice president and chief administrative officer in March 2002. As a former partner with Deloitte Consulting, he has over 26 years of extensive process, technology and strategic experience in serving such respected national healthcare companies as Kaiser Permanente, the Mayo Clinic and Allina. | | |
