Heading south for the winter? Taking an extended vacation? You can take Medica Prime Solution^SM with you. The Extended Absence Option allows you to use your Medica Prime Solution benefits when you are temporarily absent from the service area up to nine months. You have the freedom to use your Medicare and Medica Prime Solution benefits for non-emergency services with physicians and hospitals that are not part of the Medica Prime Solution network. This option can only be used outside the Medica Prime Solution service area and within the United States.

To use the Extended Absence Option, call Medica and tell us when you plan to be out of the service area and for how long, and take both your Medicare and Medica Prime Solution ID cards with you. When you follow these steps, your benefits will be covered exactly as if you received care at home. To activate this option, you must call Medica and indicate that you will be out of the service area and for how long. If you do not contact Medica, this option will not be activated for you.
