When you travel outside the Medica service area (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Western Wisconsin), you can receive covered services at network level benefits when care is received from a provider in the Travel Program. If you have children attending college outside the service area, they can use the Travel Program, too.
If you travel within the Medica service area but see a provider outside your network, your out-of-network benefits will apply. Emergency care is always covered at your network benefit level.
Receiving care from a Travel Program provider is just like receiving care within the Medica service area. When you visit a participating provider, simply show your member ID card. If you have a deductible, copay or coinsurance, it will apply.
