Voluntary supplemental coverages
Choosing additional insurance plans
Supplemental insurance plans pay additional benefits when you or your family experience specific events or illness. You can choose from three options:
- Critical Illness insurance
- Accident insurance
- Hospital Indemnity insurance
If you and your spouse/domestic partner both work for Medica, you cannot elect coverage for your spouse/domestic partner if they are enrolled in Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity as an employee. In addition, both employees cannot elect coverage for their dependent child(ren), the child(ren) can only be insured by one employee/parent.
Learn more by reading the overview and fact/rate sheets that follow each option below.
Critical Illness insurance
This coverage pays a lump sum benefit if you or a covered dependent are diagnosed with a covered illness.
Accident insurance
This coverage can help offset medical costs from a covered accident. A fixed benefit payment varies based on the type and severity of the injury.
