Getting picked up

Here's what you need to know about getting picked up:

  • Pick-up time is at least 45 minutes before your appointment
  • The driver will wait 5 minutes at the pick-up location
  • The driver will give you a return slip with the phone number to call for your return ride

Return rides

Here's what you need to know about return rides:

  • Call the number on the return slip when your visit is done
  • Identify yourself and tell them you're using the Medica Provide-A-Ride program
  • The driver will wait 5 minutes at the return ride location
  • Return rides may take 60 minutes or longer to arrive, depending on traffic and weather

Changing or cancelling rides

You can change or cancel your ride if necessary. Here's what you need to know:

  • If you need to change or cancel your ride, call the number on the back of your Medica ID card as soon as possible
  • If our office is closed, call the transportation company to cancel your ride

Reasons transportation may be denied

Minnesota plans

Rides can be denied if:

  • You're not a part of case management and don’t have an authorization to receive transportation as a special supplemental benefit for the chronically ill
  • You don't call early enough to schedule a ride
  • You request transportation to a non-approved location
  • The ride request is more than 60 miles
  • You've met your ride limit
  • You request a ride to go through a different taxi company than the contracted taxi company

This is a special supplemental program for the chronically ill. Not all members qualify.
